Worstmed

We had medical aid with discovery health, and due to high costs sort to find a more affordable medical aid in the form of Bestmed medical aid. Worst thing we ever could have done.

My wife gave birth to our baby girl on the 22nd of September 2017 at Olivedale hospital who have been nothing less than excellent with my wife as well as our baby girl. Unfortunately that’s where it ends as Bestmed now joins the picture.

Taking out the cover and put it in place wasn’t as smooth as we would of liked but I was ok with that.

Our daughter has been in ICU since the day she was born and continues to stay in Icu. For some reason Bestmed was not aware of this?? Which I find hard to believe. Countless claims have been paid from savings instead of hospital cover... after 2 weeks of phone calls on a daily basis to the call center lasting nothing less than 20 min per call. Our savings was finally rectified. When I took out the cover I was also told that there is no limit to hospital cover!!!! And today I receive a statement in which we are liable for R39 000.

I feel I should pay half of the premium we are being charged because I’m doing all their work... it’s not our job to follow up on these claims and rectify issues. On top of having our daughter in hospital, work and maintaining some sort of Normal life We need to sort out medical aid and make sure all the DR’s are paid for.

We’ve decided to take the matter further with the ombudsman due to Bestmeds lack of care in our matter. We not getting what medical is meant to deliver to their customers and benefits we thought we had.

Don’t use Bestmed!!!!
