Why pay so much for medical aid if I still have to cover cost out of my own pocket???
My son is scheduled to go for a tonsillectomy on and the ENT only practices at Wilgers hospital. I am being advised by bestmed that I will be liable for part of the account because the doctor is not using a day hospital. Now I'm forced to either pay the shortfall, or get a new ENT who my son is not fami**** with, to take him to theatre. How is this fair on us as clients who pay our premiums every month without fail to be put in such a horrible position?

A DSP is a healthcare provider that is considered the preferred choice for members’ healthcare needs, specifically related to prescribed minimum benefit (PMB) conditions. By making use of a DSP, members will have no or minimum co-payments.
The choice of a healthcare provider remains that of the member and/or the treating healthcare professional, however using a non-DSP may result in the member being liable for the payment of additional costs.
