Unreliable Medical Aid

Complete and utter discussing service. I have to have my eyes tested every year, yet Bestmed only pays for once in 24 months, so I pay every year towards having my glasses changed and the year they do pay, I am also left with a payable amount because lenses only cost R 10 to change. I had my eyes tested last week and was given the option to have laser done on my eyes to help me AND Bestmed to save on these benefits. Here is the problem, on the benefit statement I have refractive surgery benefit. The sight centre and the Doctor that I saw, said to me that if we have this done, I won't pay towards any eye test or procedures for 10 YEARS as this is their value add. Every year there is a decrease in my sight, now Bestmed said that no Sorry you have to go completly blind before we will CONSIDER paying a fraction towards such surgery. When questioning the decision, the response was.. YOUR BROKER SHOULD HAVE EXPLAINED THE TERMS REGARDING EACH BENEFIT. This is another thing is that Bestmed only sends out consultants to the employer that gives you the minimum benefits of each plan listed on there and NEVER goes into details with regards to each spesific little fine print on when they are willing to pay partially on a procedure. When changing plans within the scheme, you are also left with the papers to play pro and con on your own.

The amount we pay towards this scheme each month and the service we recieve is really unacceptable. I will strongly advise anyone thinking of joining this scheme to rather not.
