I cover the cost of my parents medical aid have recently moved them from the biggest private sector medical aid to bestmed a year ago. My mom is older , but has generally had minimal health issues. however, this year, she fell really ill, and nearly didnt make it because of septecemia.

i really appreciated all the support from bestmed in both covering her hospital costs (she was in for almost 2 weeks recovering from her operations). of course the hospital she was at was incredible, they medical aid also made sure that whatever authorisations were needed, were provided and where specialist and the hospital charged too much the medical aid sent it back for them to provide the correct rates for a network hospital. Which my medical aid wont even do, theyd rather me pay the shortfall. Im definitely planning on changing too.

My mom would certainly have died had she not been able to access private health care, and in an efficient way.
