Scheming medical aid!!!!

<p>Unbelieveable that we pay EXHORBITANT fees to medical aids and yet they are totally uncompromising and always trying to find a loop hole not to pay for treatment. I have been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma on my forehead. The treatment that my dermatologist wants to carryout involves NO cutting, but my medical aid BESTMED does not want to pay out because I cannot produce an Histology report which can only be produced if the area is cut open and removed. On appealing to the COUNCIL OF MEDICAL SCHEMES they have ruled that I have to have the place cut out of my forehead in order that I STATISFY them with an histology report that this the diagnosed area is in fact cancerous, even though there is photographic evidence that it is. I think that it is disgusting that they want me to have scaring on my face inorder to statisfy the ruling that I have to produce a histology report. Shame on both the medical aid and Council of Medical Schemes that you would prefer that a person goes through an invasive medical procedure instead of a non invasive procedure.</p>
