horrible medical aid.

i had bestmed medical when i worked for a bank. it started in january 2022. they allocated me 6500 savings portion for myself and 2 kids. i resigned and tus closed the medical aid in november last day end of novrmber. savings portion depleted in october thus i was using my own money to pay docs fee and medication. now best med send me an email stating i owe the R565 for the savings portion for decmeber. this is utter nonsense it does not make sense to me. that savings portion which was allocated to me was supposed to be R6780 for the year i however ended up with 6500 savings portion allocation. now i need to pay 565 for december when i am no longer with best med if it was prorated in january why do i need to pay full 565 when i was prorated in january and not given full savings protion which was 6780....... worst service ever the consultants knows nothing and really can not help.

Dear Natasha,

On 1 January, you were credited upfront for the funds in your PMSA (Personal Medical Savings Account) for the full financial year on the assumption that you would remain a member for the full financial year.

Since you resigned as a member of Bestmed before the end of the year, you did not pay contributions to Bestmed for the full financial year and your annual Personal Medical Savings Account (PMSA) was decreased accordingly. As a result, the reduction resulted in a deficit as the amount used exceeded the amount that was allocated.
