Failed Authorisation

I joined in October 2018 and injured my shoulder in December 2018. I put it off for a long time thinking perhaps the pain would go away. However, the pain became unbearable and I went to a surgeon on 30 January 2019, had xrays done, and he recommended surgery to repair the damage. First time I phone bestMed for authorisation, and I am told because I only recently joined I need an affidavit to prove I didnt have a sore shoulder before, and a motivation from my surgeon. So, I have been paying for cover which I am not getting because they want all this information to prove why I want it in the first place?? Absolutely absurb, but this is the standard nowadays. So, Im cancelling. Absolutely pathetic that I am paying for medical cover but I am the one who needs to prove why I need it. Take my money, no problem until you actually need them.

Im paying you for a service, so why dont you pick up the phone and call the surgeon to confirm what YOU WANT me to ask him to do? I pay you, not the other way around. My surgeon would confirm my first session was yesterday, that the xrays reflect surgery is required. Yet, you make me feel like a **** and cheat by telling me I must get a police affidavit to prove it. Yes, what a way to make a customer feel like I am getting what I pay for.

Good day Mr Wernich

I will request a report from the orthopaedic surgeon, but since there is no claims history for you on record, the Hospital Benefit Management Department may still insist on the affidavit due to the lack of medical history information.

I will revert back to you as soon as I have liaised with them upon receipt of the report.

Kind regards.

You can withdraw this as your company has sent confirmation that my cancellation will be actioned as of 1 February 2019. Its amazing you need an affidavit because I have no claims history - which means I havent tried to claim ANYTHING (No pain meds, no treatment) for the injury, but you still need an affidavit. Yes, that makes sense (SIC). Anyway, you guys were clearly too happy to cut me off as a customer. So be it.
