Disappointed canceled customer

I was a loyal customer of Bestmed for years without ever making a claim. My monthly R4680 ( 2 people ) debit orders went through every month without a hitch. But when I was bitten in the face by a dog, everything fell apart. My wife rushed me to a hospital listed with Bestmed, trusting that everything would be handled smoothly given the emergency.

But no. The hospital couldn’t get through to Bestmed, and the staff seemed almost amused by our predicament, as if they knew dealing with Bestmed would be a nightmare. After a long wait, we were told they still couldn’t reach anyone. I ended up with stitches, injections, and medication costing around R3,000.

I figured I’d get reimbursed since it was an emergency and I’d never made a claim before. But no—Bestmed rejected my claim because I wasn’t admitted and spend the night. What a pathetic excuse for a medical aid. Don’t waste your time or money with them.
