Bestmed should change its name to WorseMed
This medical aid does NOT care about Woman in menopause, which affects every single woman after a certain age. My Dr prescribed various medications to take on this menopause Journal. All of them is an absolute must & is prescribed after a full blood test. But "Bestmed" only authorised 20% of the medications, the rest comes from my pocket & the savings, but the medical aid savings usually runs out in the 1st half of the year. I pay medical aid Close to R5 grand every month, yet they authorised only 20%. This medical aid is an absolute disgrace to woman in general & especially if you going through menopause.

Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely empathise with your concerns regarding your treatment and the financial impact of your prescribed medication during menopause.
Please be advised that in terms of Scheme rules, only medicines that are registered and approved as chronic medication under your specific benefit option can be authorised under the chronic benefit. Medications that do not meet the chronic classification criteria are not eligible for chronic authorisation and are therefore funded from day-to-day benefits or member savings, where applicable.
Where medication is recognised as chronic and included under your benefit option, it will be processed and approved in line with Scheme rules. These guidelines are app**** consistently and cannot be altered on an individual basis.
We encourage you or your treating doctor to contact us directly so we may review your specific prescriptions and provide clarity on how each item is being funded within your available benefits.
