Bestmed Horrible
Bestmed. What a frustration. Requested authorization on orthodontic treatment which was declined until I received a quote so low that it fell well within their approval. The doctor must be paid in advance, I have done so for the last 11 months but have battled with Bestmed to claim back my payments. They are so behind with their customer services that they are now querying the original quote sent in that they declined, claiming that I had to use that doctor, but they declined the quote and only approved the cheaper doctor. Horrible service when I call, I am getting transferred to various persons in other departments just to get rid of the call on NO assistance to help me solve my query. Looking for other medical aid now. Also saw on FB that they are horrible and do not keep to their selling and marketing products which is confirmed when onboarding. Very dissapointed.

In the feedback, we referred you to a benefit guide regarding orthodontic treatment benefits. It was explained that separate benefits for orthodontics are available only from the Pace2 plan, which is for beneficiaries up to the age of 18 years.
The quotation you submitted in April was not finalized, as we requested an updated motivation for the requested code. We also advised you that the code indicates comprehensive orthodontic treatment, which suggests severe treatment.
However, this is not the case in the supporting documents.
The monthly installments from 26/05/2023 until 01/11/2023 were declined as the authorization loaded on the system is not for Dr. Botha. The approved treatment is under Dr. Smit. If you have changed the treating doctor, you must send a new motivation and quotation for review.
As mentioned in our previous correspondence, orthodontic treatment on the Pace1 plan is covered first from savings and then from the day-to-day limit at the scheme rate.
