Bestmed

I do not know where to start. Last year I was rushed to St George's ER where I was attended to and sent home. The Medical Aid paid for the ER as they should have known that I was not admitted to the Hospital, However the doctors accountant make a mistake and because of a wrong code that says that I was admitted to the Hospital the medical aid says to me that it is my account to pay. Surly they would have got a account from the hospital? Then after phoning them I am told that the doctor sent the wrong code and that I will pay the account. We have been with Bestmed since 1998 which should account for something. Now again we have a problem. My wife was going paralyzed in one leg and was committed to a wheel chair. She had to have a very big back operation. Before they would even admit her I had to borrow R10000.00. to pay for a shortfall on the equipment that they where going to use in theatre I do not know how the med aid could not pick up problems when only three doctors were going to preform the operation and all off a sudden there are more doctors in theatre due to a accidental punctured lung that caused my wife to be in High care for eleven day's instead of two days at R10500.00 per day which for something that my wife did not even go to hospital for because of the botch up in theatre and I get a account for over R32000.00 which somebody ( Bestmed ) has decided is mine to pay as they are not. I approached the hospital to please assist us as we cannot cannot pay that amount of money and they wrote of over R14000.00 . Even if we could being a 70 and 66 year old pensioners no bank would lend us the money as we would not be able to pay the bank back. We never had any debt before until my Wife had to have surgery or become paralyzed. So we approach the Service at Bested to see if they could write this off, as we are now getting sick with worry not being in this situation before. We got a answer back which said that it has been forwarded to the hospital auditing department for further evaluation, E11C*** and they will get back to us within 4-5 working days. It is now two weeks and nothing has happened. Meanwhile we do not sleep at night and it is now effecting our health.
