AUTHORIZATION RECEIVED WITH CODE BUT WILL NOW NOT PAY THE DOCTOR

I must be honest, until I experienced this episode, I would always highly recommend Bestmed and I have been a member for 37 years. But I am experiencing this at the moment which has made me think twice about this medical aid because remember its the PEOPLE who work there who make the company and it could be that the quality of their staff are no longer of a high standard and its just a job to them. My husband had cancer on his earlobe (BCC). Dr Singh said he would do the procedure contracted in rates if Bestmed agreed to code 0313. On their authorization this code was included. My husband had the procedure done under local anaesthetic at "the San" because it at to be done under totally sterile condidtions. The bill came to R27000 and Bestmed will only pay just over R8000- I am to be responsible for the rest. Dr Singh charged contracted in rates so I should not be responsible for one cent. I objected and received a letter apologising for my experience and saying the payment has been approved and will be processed at month end. DONT YOU TAKE THAT TO BE THE FULL AMOUNT? I in turn email them thanking them and receive a return email advising that the amount will be almost R9000 not the full amount. Can you believe it !!! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEAK TO THEM ON THE PHONE ABSOLUTELY RUDE - I even emailed them the time and date of the one call so they could listen to the recording. I heard nothing back. I went onto the website and found that a Dries La Grange is the CEO. I took a chance and emailed him (the email was not returned non-deliverable). I have emailed him 4 times and he has not responded. The only person who has tried to assist me is the Alexander Forbes Health Care Representative - contracted by Bestmed - Rachel Janssens who has tried and tried.
