Authorisation nightmare
Horrible experience with Bestmed.
My son was born with a skin tag in 2022 but has never caused any issues until it got infection on 6 February 2025.
We took my son to the ER on 6 February 2025 and we were then referred to another doctor who was only available on 10 February 2025.
At the doctor on 10 February, it was then decided that my son will have to go into surgery on 11 February 2025 to have the skin tag removed. Bestmed asked for numerous documents so they can give us "authorisation codes" so we quickly got all the needed documents and Doctor's Reports and sent it to Bestmed, only to hear that the authorisation will take a few days to possibly be approved...
Now we had to cancel surgery and we have to wait to hear if the authorisation is approved or not while my son is walking around with a sore skin tag and cheak that was supposed to be removed immediately as per the doctor's suggestion as not a planned procedure but rather a urgent one.
What exactly do you then get by paying monthly premiums for medical cover but don't have any benefits???
