Authorisation nightmare

On 20th Feb I visited the Doctor who decided to book me for admission to a hospital that is within my network as I presented with abnormally high blood pressure. The hospital refused my admission because they first needed authorisation from Bestmed which was only approved on 1st March by the scheme. Apparently there is a turnaround time of 72 hours for authorisations to be approved by Bestmed and they don't care about what happens to you while you are waiting for approval. Obviously the Doctor would not refer one for admission if it was not an emergency medical situation. Even more ridiculous, I still went to hospital when the authorisation was approved on 1st March but was rejected again because the approval was only for admission on 20th. Bestmed said I needed to request for another authorisation to be admitted on 1st March. No one from their call center is able to explain this confusion to me..
