Absolutely atrocious service delivery.

The worst medical aid I have ever come across. Their customer service does not exist. I canceled my medical aid which was already depleted for the year only to be told that my savings was overused by R1020... The same savings that I could not use to get any medication on for quite some time before I canceled. I was billed R1020 for a savings account that was depleted. Even if this was the case why do you allow further transactions on a savings portion of the medical aid that was already depleted? Instead, you penalize your clients when they want to cancel. I stopped using this medical aid long before I canceled so how on earth were the medical savings overused... I paid the R1020, granted a few months later than I should have. Now they are claiming R141 for incurred charges that was never communicated via a telephone conversation, email OR any other means of communication. ****************! Please stay away from Bestmed.. it has been a nightmare since joining 3 years ago... I am still dealing with issues with them 4 months after canceling. Absolutely atrocious service delivery.

Dear candice

On 1st January, you were credited upfront for the funds in your annual Personal Medical Savings Account for the full 2022 financial year on the assumption that you would remain a member for the full financial year.

Since you resigned as a member of Bestmed in the middle of the year, you did not pay contributions to Bestmed for the full 2021 financial year and your annual Personal Medical Savings Account (PMSA) was decreased accordingly upon termination of your membership, hence the amount owed to the scheme.

According to the Bestmed Scheme Rules, Any debit balance in the PMSA arising during or at the end of the financial year remains the Member’s liability and is repayable to the Scheme upon membership termination.

A debit balance arises when the monetary savings amount used exceeds the total monetary amount refunded by the Member to the Scheme on a monthly basis.

On termination of membership, funds in the Member’s PMSA may be used to offset any debt owed by the member including outstanding contributions.

I trust you will find this feedback useful. If, however, you need more information, or support from our Client Relations Communication Team, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Your wellbeing, as a valued client of the Scheme, is important to all of us at Bestmed.

Regards
