Theft at Belvedere House

We recently stayed at Belvedere House, and unfortunately, our overall experience was marred by an incident that left us frustrated and disappointed. The major issue we encountered was the theft of our belongings from our car, which was parked outside the guesthouse. The total worth of the ****** items amounted to R40,000. Despite the presence of one parking space on the property, we were not explicitly informed to utilize it. Moreover, the limited capacity of the parking space made it unlikely that our car would have fitted had we attempted to park there. Additionally, there are more than 1 rooms in the guesthouse which would mean, should the property be fully booked, at least 3 or more guests would be unable to park inside the property. Attempts to contact the host for clarification on the parking arrangements proved unsuccessful as she was unavailable. Despite the promise to share her contact number via WhatsApp, this never happened, leaving us without a means to address our concerns. In response to the security breach, the guesthouse allegedly had functioning security cameras. However, when we requested evidence to support this claim, the host could only provide a single screenshot. Her explanation that the cameras were malfunctioning and preventing her from accessing video footage seemed questionable. It raised questions about the credibility of the security measures in place. While we appreciate the partial refund for the second night, it does not adequately compensate for the distressing experience and the loss we incurred. We opted not to stay the second night due to the security concerns and the lack of confidence in the guesthouse's ability to address such issues promptly and effectively. Our stay at Belvedere House was overshadowed by inadequate communication, insufficient parking provisions, and questionable security measures. We hope that these concerns are addressed to prevent similar incidents for future guests.
