Belvedere, Clocolan

My mother and I recently had the opportunity to get away for a few days. I booked us in at Belvedere - a guest farm just outside the Free State town of Clocolan. It was a Fabulous 4 days. It was only us, and we had Innocent looking after us. He made sure we had enough fire wood for our braai every evening, and making sure we have a great stay. He is really a Great Asset!! The views from the house is magnificent, and we were surrounded in the mornings and late afternoon by Nyalas, Bontebok and even Sables. The house itself is well equipped and easily sleeps 6 guests. It has a huge lounge area, nice big kitchen and a veranda overlooking a beautiful mountain range. It has all the amenities you will need. But I will suggest taking enough entertainment if you have small children, for its more a place to do nothing than being active. There is also a 32Km dirt road to the farm - past Mokwetse Game Reserve - and if you have a 4x4 its better. Also, we wanted to visit Clocolan, Ficksburg and Clarens during our stay, but unfortunately, due to the very bad state of the public roads - potholes galore - we decided just to stay were we are. Which we didn't mind, for we needed a break, and just the quietness of the bushveld around us, the sound of the numerous bird species and of course the wild life. I will really recommend Belvedere Guest Farm for some R&R, and rebook again in the near future!!
