Complete disrespect and violates POPIA

A year ago, I inquired about a course for my daughter. After deciding not to do it, I continued receiving emails.(fair enough). I unsubscribed but still received email. I unsubscribed a few times, still got emails. I emailed various people at Bellview, I never received a response. I phoned Bellview, the operator said she would pass the message on. I am still getting emails. To say this is terrible, is an understatement. I know the POPIA, and this is not legal to continue. Fortunate there is not a zero star.

Dear Recipient,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the ongoing frustration, inconvenience, and distress caused by receiving continuous promotional emails after repeatedly requesting to be unsubscribed.

We fully acknowledge that failing to process your unsubscribe requests and ignoring your direct emails and phone calls is completely unacceptable. We understand your concerns regarding compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and we take your privacy rights and opt-out requests very seriously.

To allow us to locate your contact record on our system and ensure your personal details are completely removed from all marketing and communication databases, could you please reply with your Student/Inquiry Number, ID Number, or the specific Email Address receiving these communications?

Once we receive your details, our management and data compliance teams will take the following immediate actions:

  • Database Removal: We will manually remove your email address and personal details from all active marketing lists and automated communication channels.

  • POPIA Audit: We will investigate why the automated unsubscribe mechanism and manual requests failed to process your opt-out preference.

  • Staff Review: We will address the failure of our staff and operators to act on your requests internally to prevent this from happening again.

Kind regards,

The Bellview Institute Team
