No refund

I had put in a deposit for a mattress I wanted to buy , the amount of R1000.00 , later I had to terminate the contract due to relocation , the was no pre-arrangement made. When I went back to terminate the lay-bye I was told there are no refunds on deposits. I was not told this before making the transaction. far worse no gift cards are issued by the shop. According consumer rights the institution has no right to refuse me my deposit , they can charge a penalty fee but not keep my deposit. <br> <br> There are no set rules or policy provided by Bed City in this regard.
