Unprofessional and unfair treatment by Beauty Therapy Institute

I am submitting a formal complaint against Beauty Therapy Institute (BTI) and its director, Sandra Fuhr, for unfairly withholding my refund of R9,975. I enrolled at BTI Rivonia on February 26, 2024, and paid in full for two courses: Lash Extensions and Manual Facials. However, due to personal reasons and financial constraints, I requested a refund on April 9, 2024. Despite my request, BTI refused to provide a full refund. Instead, they offered a gift voucher for the value of the course, less an administration fee. I reject this offer, as I no longer wish to utilize their services. The letter from Sandra Fuhr, Director of BTI, raises several red flags: • BTI claims to have a no-refund policy, but this was not clearly communicated to me during enrollment. • The policy allows for refunds within 10 working days of enrollment, but I was not informed of this timeframe. • BTI refunded me for the Manual Facial kit, but not for the Manual Facial course itself. The gift voucher offer is not a suitable replacement for a full refund. Concerns and Observations: 1. No contract signed: BTl's response does not address the fact that I never signed a contract with them. 2. Services not rendered: BTI acknowledges that I did not receive the Manual Facial course, but does not provide a clear reason for withholding the refund. 3. Refund policy: BTI's refund policy seems unfair, especially considering I did not receive the services I paid for. 4. Lack of empathy: BTI's response appears to be more focused on justifying their actions rather than showing empathy for my situation. I request a full refund of R9,975 from BTI. I believe their actions are unfair, contradictory to the Consumer Protection Act, and potentially ********.
