Fully grown insect inside Beacon TV Bar chocolate slab
<p>I decided to buy myself a Beacon TV Bar slab. All was well until I was 3 quarters into the slab and saw what seems to be a ****roach or cricket inside the slab. The insect's antannae were sticking out and I thought it was hair, but as I took a closer look, these were limbs and antannae. I sent them a Facebook message with an image containing the sickening sigth of this and they asked for my details so that they can communicate with me. A lady called and apologised for the inconvenience, which is okay. Then they said I would get a R120 voucher, which they sent via SMS. She also mentioned that I should send in the picture, expiry date and some details of the product. To be honest, even if a chocolate expired back in 2001, how would a roach/cricket end up fully grown inside of it like that? </p> <p> </p> <p>Now, all of this was okay until I decided to look up similar instances. A guy called Kesi Govender posted something similar on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kesegan/posts/ ********** ********** 022 . I looked through HelloPeter and found a few other issues related to my one. It seems to me that vouchers are offered left and right just so customers can relax a bit. I wouldn't say that it is to keep unhappy customers quiet because that would be a defamation lawsuit against me. I just find it a silly that you would give someone a voucher to buy a product that they found insects inside of. I wouldn't even give this chocolate to a someone else.</p> <p> </p> <p>I do not eat chocolate right now, and I am not sure if I ever will. If I do in the future, it definitely won't be a Beacon choc. This is just a review and I am not expecting a response (Not that they do respond anyway). All I ask is that they make thorough checks at their factories and ensure that their equipment is clean. They should also make sure that their organic sources (such as their milk and other ingredients) are not contaminated with anything that shouldn't be there. I was extremely disgusted and do not wish anyone would see what I saw in person. I just hope that these aren't the doings of unhappy employees because I find it very hard to believe that any factory would allow a full insect to be lodged inside of a white chocolate as if it's part of their ingredients.</p>
