Disgusting with the accounts department

My Debit order bounced with BDA, I did not have enough funds in my account for the debit.

I was aware of this, I contacted the BDA and asked to cancel my contract. This was done. They sent through the cancellation letter.

Today 15/07/2021, I received a phone call from an accounts lady saying that I still owe R695 as my debit order bounced. I said to her I am aware of this. She also checked on the system that I cancelled my gym member gym on 5/07/2021. She then asked me why did it bounce, I rep**** to her "I am not answered that question". Then she got aggressive with her tone of voice on the phone, and then I said to her "there is no need to get aggressive with me on the phone". I said I would work out a payment plan, to pay the rest of the money. (I am absolutely disgusted in the accounts lady communication etiquette, there was no form of suggestion and or explanation to what options you have to settle your outstanding amount. What this also shows me if this is how I am treated, how else would other people be treated over phone calls similar to this. There was no option for meet-in-the-middle resolution).

In sighting this I immediately called the gym reception to make a formal complaint about the accounts lady. I also asked the receptionist to please find out about a payment plan. I suggested to pay R200 on the 16/07/2021. and settle the remaining amount R495 at the end of July.

Later on in the morning the receptionist called me back, and said that they would not offer a payment plan, but hand me over to the lawyers (This would be the communication from the accounts department). WHAT I CAN SAY IS THE RECEPTIONIST HAD BETTER PHONE ETIQUETTE, WITH ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS WITH THIS BEING OPEN ENDED AND CLOSED ENDED QUESTIONS.

One would think in time like this, there would be some form leverage in a pandemic where people are battling to put food on the table. But not in this regard.

I will go and settle the amount in the next day or two.

From reading the reviews from other experiences, I can understand why some people have had bad experiences.

Some rules of thumb could be taught from this link below: https://blog.hubspot.com/service/phone-etiquette
