I received a R200 birthday voucher from Bash on December 30th, the catch is (as there always is) is that I must spend R850, and I have to spend it in the next 7 days. I figured I might as well use it to buy my daughter’s birthday gift even though her birthday is only in April. I placed my order online on 2 January, but when I paid, the voucher failed to go off. I figured it’s not the end of the world and emailed Bash to let them know to please fix the mistake. After several emails I finally got a response on 5 January telling me that after an order has been placed, they are unable to make any changes to the purchase price. I copied and pasted the original message from the 2nd of January, asking them to please just credit it on my account. On the 6th I received another birthday voucher, also for R 200, also with an R 850 minimum spend, also valid for 7 days. I also received an email stating that as a gesture of goodwill, they will give me a 25% off online voucher for my next purchase. My exact answer was, “So you want to give me another voucher, and if this one does not go off, then you will give me another one and another one and another one, and if none of them goes off, there really is nothing you can do about it. In the meantime, you are getting richer and I am getting stupider. Is that what you are telling me? Is there any reason why you cannot simply credit the original R200 to my account?” They then went ahead and offered me a R 350 in-store voucher, and my reply was as follows: “I just want to clarify, this R 350 voucher, is it another one of those where you have to spend 1,000 to be able to use the voucher, and you HAVE to use it within the next 7 days? If that is the case, then I am sincerely not interested. If you want to give me a voucher without a minimum spend that I can use when I want to use it, to be spent in-store, then I will consider the matter settled. But I certainly do not want another voucher that may or may not go off, and if it doesn't, there is nothing anyone can do.”
This is the reply I got: “Hi Cecilia, Thanks for reaching out. Apologies for the delay in response at this time. We would like to advise you that the voucher we are offering is a voucher that can be redeemed at any TFG store at any time and no extra charges on the voucher. Kindly advise on next course of action, awaiting on your soonest response. Best, Yazeed Bash Support Team “
I rep**** that that is great and thanked Yazeed for his effort.
On the 10th of Jan, I got a ‘How do you rate our service” email and I responded that I am still waiting for the promised voucher, and until I receive the voucher, I consider nothing resolved.
Yazeed sent me the following:
“Hi Cecilia, Thanks for your mail. We would like to advise you that all our vouchers has the same policy and cannot be changed as per your request. Feel free to use the voucher provided as no alterations can be done. Hope this helps, apologies for the inconvenience caused. Blessed day and weekend further. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Best, Yazeed Bash Support Team”
It is now the 12th and I have heard nothing other than “How would you rate our service” emails. I would like to ask you, what service?
Now, I really don’t even know what to say. In a more just society, this would have been *******, if you promise someone something, you make sure that they get it, or maybe that is just me. I suppose it is my own stupidity for believing the lies of people I know are just in it for the money. I guess I just want to warn people that if Bash or any of their affiliates promises you a voucher, don’t count on it.
I am so sick of these big companies that do whatever they please and don't give a **** about their customers.
