Distasteful Customer Service

I drive a VW and at the end of March I took it in because it was giving a warning light for something I didn’t know. I was told to leave it as driving it further could cause overheating. This was on the 11th of March and after having to engage the Manager, I managed to have them book it for the 30th of March.

The Sales Consultant that assisted me, Shanta was not helpful at all. She first told me that I will have to pay for whatever the problem is when it has been assessed even though my car was still under warranty. Following some drama and the manager’s involvement I never heard anything from her on the update until I went to check again only to find out that she had left the case unattended and was on Leave!

In her absence I was assisted by Nick who was more helpful in terms of keeping me up to date with what is happening even though the overall service from the dealership has not been desirable at all.

It has been more than a month that I am without a car which is a primary mode of transport for my family. I have incurred so much cost from the delay; having to arrange alternative transportation to do fruitless visits to the dealership and also to make means to get to work, get my child to school and also visit my dad who is currently in ICU.

What upsets me most is that after I expressed my dissatisfaction with Shanta’s service, my case was still handed back to her when she returned from Leave and I feel like there is no compassion or sense of urgency in getting me mobile again. When I communicate with her she gives patronising responses and it is unfortunate that I am approaching another long weekend without a car that I am paying for.

I understand that not all parts are readily available but good and considerate customer service goes a long way. It is sad that companies like Barons PMB have people like Shanta as Sales Consultants that can easily turn a lady into a mad woman due to failure to empathise. It makes one wonder how the company values are adopted by the staff members *sad face
