Damaged product, no assistance and a cold shoulder

I bought a car for my son and then paid to have a better audio system installed. The dealership then recommended and arranged the installation of the audio system.

Not long after, the radio system shorted due to a fuse for the audio being cheaply mounted in a poorly selected position causing an electrical fire. Brand new car, R200k worth of damage and we are now getting a cold shoulder.

We had an inspector confirm that the radio fuse, instead of being fixed in a more appropriate way, was fixed to a dirty surface using some kind of two part adhesive above the battery. Due to the poor surface condition and heat from the engine bay, the fuse came loose, shorting the positive terminal to the negative terminal damaging the entire wire harness.

It was the dealerships responsibility to ensure that the installer had done the installation safely and to industry standards. If this is the kind of service one could expect from VW Bruma, then I would strongly advise against it.

We will be taking this further. We ask that VW Bruma please share the contact details of the upper management of the group as well as an amicable solution.
