Car repairs

My car broke down yesterday and I took it to vw barons for repairs. They can’t even tell me how long it will take to fix. No one is communicating anything with me. I called them today trying to find out what is happening with car and the person I spoke to said they don’t know and would transfer me to the relevant people, but he hangs up on me instead. I tried to call them back and they’re not answering. How can such a reputable company not know the time frames of how long things like this should take? I am unsatisfied with the service.
