Barons Pietermaritzburg
I am very disappointed with the service that my mom got at Barons (PMB) when she was buying a car. She app**** and was approved for the vehicle finance at ABSA on the 20th August 2018. The financial adviser who was helping her at ABSA referred her to a car sales man at Barons by the name of Bahle Bhengu. On the 30th August 2018 my mother called the sales man that she was referred to asking for a quotation of the New Polo. Bahle Bhengu ( car sales man) gave her a description of the New Polo, they discuss the colour of the car that my mother would like, she told him she doesn't want a car with balloon payment and the features that she would like. They also made an appointment for the 4th September 2018. This was all happening over the phone.
Four Days later, on the 4th Septber 2018 my mother arrived at Barons and the car was ready for her to it home. This puzzled us because when she was calling a guy she requested a quotation and nothing was finalized as yet. It was not even possible that the car was ready in 4 days with all the features (sunroof; leather seats with a specif colour, tinted windows) that she requested. While she was still puzzled by that she opened the car and she discovered that the car was not even close to what she had quoted for. My mother wanted a dark grey colour but the car that she found at Barons was White with all the other features she didn't ask for. The sales man chose everything for her of which resulted in her not liking the car. What even worse this was done without even consulting her.
This was so confusing. How can a car be ready in 4 days? How can u buy a car without a proper consultation? This is not the first time my mother buying a car with Baron. She bought a Polo 1.4 in 2010 and she was financed by ABSA. So she knows all the terms and procedures that needs to be followed when buying a car. She not egnorant. After she refused to take the car that was shown to her, Bahle Bhengu told her to sign for the car and he will order the car that she wants. Therefore, my mother signed with the hope of getting a car that she wants. The next thing we heard nothing from Bahle Bhengu. My mother kept on calling him but there was nothin. Until one day she called and she found him he told her that he had found the car that my mother wants. However, she must do a trade in and pay an amount of R25 000 up front. She also found out that the car that Bahle is talking about have a balloon payment. We asked our selves what trade in because my mother didnt come with any car at Baron asking for a trade in. On top of that she told Bahle Bhengu that she doesn't want a car with balloon payment. Only to find out that the trade in is for the car that Bahle orded without consulting my mother. My mother told Bahle She will not take car with a balloon payment. She refused everything that he was telling her. He asked my mother to come to Barons. At her arrival Bahle addressed my mother in a very unpollite manner saying that if my mother is not doing a trade in and paying that R25 000 she should take the first car. He even said my mother will make him loss his job if she doesn't take the car. He forced my mother to take the white car with pinkish seats saying the car was already registered in her name. My mother refused to take the car and left.
She reported the matter to the manager by name Darryl Chetty but the manager failed to assist her. She went to the bank to cancel the vehicle finance the next thing she knows the first car installment was deducted from her account On the 15th October 2018. She reversed the money. After several attempts to try and resolve the matter but she hasn't find any help. On the 15th of every month they are still deduct the installments.
