Engine Fault incorrectly Diagnosed/Failure to repair
Vehicle was booked in to resolve two faults (VW Jetta) 1. Engine light coming on (yellow/orange) 2. ESC fault that keeps appearing after driving
> Took the vehicle in on 26th November 2018. > The same day, was informed a part is required to fix the error, which is an EVP > Vehicle part had to be ordered and card would be ready next day (27th November 2018) > Total cost for parts and labor, including diagnosing the problem was R5909 > Payment made and vehicle collected on 27th November 2018 > on 1st December the ESC error reappeared > on 2nd December the engine warning light reappeared > Called the dealership the next business day to inform them of the fault, they said to bring the vehicle in the next day > Took the vehicle in on 4th December, the service agent could not give a commitment that the vehicle would be looked at on that day > For the next three days I received feedback that they were still looking into the problem and were trying different things > Collected the vehicle on 4th December > 5th December the engine warning light came on again as well as the ESC warning light
Problem still is not resolved, waiting on the service manager to provide me with a plan on how they plan on fixing the problem. The issue I have with the above process is as follows: 1. The problem was incorrectly diagnosed, yet I was charged for parts and labour 2. For a reputable service agent, Barons, one expects the problem will be correctly diagnosed the first time and problem resolved 3. It took several days for the technical guys to test, retest and still they did not find the problem. i.e. they've had the vehicle a total of 6 days
So, for this brand in terms of customer service, Barons and Volkswagen, competency and quality comes into question.
