My wife was admitted to hospital in July 2017 for severe bronchitis. Blood tests were carried out on request by the doctor treating her; tests reveled my wife had developed Pneumonia - (blood tests done by Lancet Laboratories) - The code used by lancet Labs - 4439 QUANT PCT:ATYPICAL PNEUM @120 - (111017QF8MWS, Mauff A C & Partners claim dated the 19/07/2017) - is not accepted by barloworld Medscheme so the claim was rejected. It has been a back and forth email ping pong since July of this year to try and get Barloworld Medscheme to sort this issue out with Lancet labs... Today 19th October 2017, receive a call from Barloworld Medscheme advising that they will basically continue to reject the claim unless Lancet labs conform to Barloworld Medscheme's - "acceptable" codes, whatever these codes are or whatever the correct code is supposed to be - for claiming purposes. How can this be left to a member of the scheme to know what codes are acceptable and what is not? There must be hundreds of different codes!!! Surely the medical aid together with the service provider should be able to sort this issue out. But no, we apologize for the inconvenience caused, but we will not accept this claim as a result... VALUES.... care for our employees... It has now come to the point where i'm about to be handed over because the patient is ultimately responsible for the account settlement right.... Shame on you Barloworld Medscheme... Totally deplorable and atrocious... Regards
