Barko is not a flexible company to work for.

I will never refer any person to work for Barko Loans, On busy days they say no one must go on leave, You work unnecessary long hours, on a Saturday it's half day from 8am-13pm but Ops and AM can decide to tell you 30 mins before you knock off that you will knock off at 15:00 reason being the Area is still behind, To everyone who want to work for Barko just know that you will no longer enjoy ur extra mural activities. And if the client didn't pay their loans it is the Loan Consultant fault and they'll deduct certain percentage on LCs salary. With my Branch Manager she was the sweetest and for that keep doing that great job.

Hi Mokgadi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. At Barko, we take all concerns seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to review this matter in detail.

After receiving your feedback, we conducted a full internal review, including discussions with your former Branch Manager, Area Manager, and our HR and Payroll teams. We would like to clarify a few points respectfully:

• Working hours and weekends
There are occasions at month-end where branches may assist clients beyond normal Saturday hours. This is not unique to your branch and is always tied to operational needs and customer demand. These situations are communicated by management and occur infrequently. We also note that, as a DBM, you yourself were part of the team who often encouraged staying longer to ensure that the best service was offered to Barko’s customers.

• Leave requests
Leave is never discouraged; however, as with most financial service environments, peak periods require staffing stability to ensure compliance and customer service. These expectations apply consistently across branches. As you know and did, leave and off days are planned in future in every branch to ensure you use such during quiet times. Leave and off days are granted so you can rest and spend time with personal affairs.

• Bad debt and salary deductions
Bad debt will never be deducted from any staff member. But as you are aware, your incentive scale is linked to the results you achieve, which include the quality of your book and how well you manage arrears and bad debt. The better your performance, the stronger your incentive outcome.

• Resignation and communication
When you resigned, there were no prior concerns raised to management regarding dissatisfaction with working conditions. Your exit interview also reflected a willingness to return to the company should the opportunity arise. We appreciate the positive comments you shared about your Branch Manager’s leadership and your experience working with the team.

That said, we truly are sorry that you left feeling this way. Every employee’s experience matters to us, and we are committed to providing a supportive and fair working environment for all our staff.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further or require clarity on any aspect of your final salary, our HR team remains available to assist.

We wish you every success in your new role and all the best in your future endeavours.

Warm regards,
Barko Loans Management
