Richard Maharaj Witholding funds
Dear HelloPeter Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to request guidance regarding a matter involving a contractor, Richard Maharaj, who was working on our home over a period of approximately two and a half months. During this time, he undertook various tasks including roof repairs, gutter installation, partial exterior painting, and the construction of a carport.
We also paid him a deposit for paving work that remains incomplete. Unfortunately, the contractor has since become unresponsive and has not returned to the property to complete the remaining work. Despite multiple attempts to contact him via phone and messaging, he has ceased all communication.
To date, the estimated value of the outstanding work amounts to approximately R70,000. We have also requested receipts and documentation for the payments made, but he has refused to provide them.
We are in possession of his contact information and banking details, and would appreciate any advice or assistance you can offer on how to proceed with this matter legally and effectively.
