Second class service
Yesterday, 25th November I was at N1 City Mall in Cape Town and decided to search for some good quality Afrikaans reading and went to this branch of Bargain Books, since they almost specialize in Afrikaans literature. I managed to find one of Eben Venter's books, which was a wonderful surprise for me! But my excitement was short lived the moment I proceeded to the pay point, where all the staff was gathered. None of them showed any interest in me whatsoever and the cashier, Tyrone, as stated on the receipt but it might not be the red head's name, whom I paid at. This was by far the most impersonal experience to date I've been subjected to, mind you, in a place that usually lifts any book fanatic's spirit! He completely lacked any professional ability, not even making eye contact or politely greeting, I honestly felt offended. I found this sheer lack of manners and ability to engage with the public, in such and open space, really disappointing, to say the least, since his conduct was in direct contrast to what Bargain Books claims they stand for- acknowledging the value and importance their customers and suppliers alike, are contributing to their current and future success and existence! I would suggest this establishment seriously considers the correct individuals to serve as their brand ambassadors, since this was definitely the only and the last time I would even consider going back to spend my hard earned money!
