I am a Bankmed member, currently pregnant and was placed on a Baby and Me programme. One of the benefits is Ante-natal and post-natal with an allocated fee of R1600. On the 7th March I called Bankmed and asked them to give me a Midwife that is registered on the network both baby and me and client service department confirmed they do not have one I can opt for anyone which I then eventually did. After some research we found Anti-natal class which was a 2 day program and the fee was R1650 for both classes. Payment was made as we were told that we can claim from the medical aid. We attended the classes, an invoice was given, sent it through and then only 2 hundred and something rand was paid out of that claim. 4th April I called and was told the medical aid pays a scheme rate of hundred and something rand per day for anti-natal class. I was in deep disbelief to hear such as it was not even disclosed the first time I called, reality speaking which midwife charges that amount because they range from R800 plus per visit. I laid a complaint with the baby and me programme made it clear the reason I opted for ante-natal is because I don't need post-natal and that whole amount can be paid towards the claim as per decision I made. Now I have a loss of one thousand something rand and no one seems to care. This period should be an exciting one for me but I am getting a terrible experience and I'm in awe, shocked, disappointed.
