Poor medical cover

<p>I went for emergency hernia repair to Waterfall City Hospital on 8/6/2016. Yesterday I received the surgeon's account for R17 500 and to my surprise the medical aid only paid R5 800.</p> <p>Tell me which surgeon do you think would be in theatre for an hour and a half doing emergency surgery for R5 800? That is impossible.</p> <p>What is the point of paying a ridiculous premium for basically no cover.</p> <p>I'm comprehensively covered under the traditional plan. Since Discovery took over as administrator in January 2016 I have had endless problems and received poor service.</p> <p>Any hospital procedure is supposed to be covered under the hospital benefit and the amount is unlimited.</p> <p>Don't tell me about doctor charging above scheme rate - this has always been the case and I have never had any outstanding fees. And I was on Bankmed before. This is my 4th operation done by this doctor.</p> <p>Really guys - this is my health we are talking about. I would have died had they not picked up the issue in time.</p> <p>Is that what my life is worth - R5 800??</p> <p>You guys are "*****" and should be reported to the board. <br /> </p>
