Lack of visibility since administered by Discovery
I belong to a medical aid - Bankmed and regardless of who Bankmed chooses to select to do the administration, I should have the same service as before and should have access to the same information. Since going over to Discovery my optical claims now don't get processed by Bankmed. If fact they just ignore them! I then have to phone the call centre and they then send it on to PPN. I have never had to do this before! I cannot even see the status of the claim -whether PPN are going to pay it or how much. I have never had to contact Bankmed as much as what I have to since Discovery has taken over. This is unacceptable! ALL my claims should be visible on the Bankmed website and up to date with the latest info.
Morning Rosalie, the Bankmed Optometry Benefit is administered by a third party called Preferred Provider Network (PPN), on behalf of Bankmed. Upon a claim being received from the practice, PPN will process the claim and email the statement to the practice who is then responsible to email it to the member. These claims will not be available on the website, the only claims that you would be able to view are for other optometry services which are funded from the available savings account. We’ve followed up with the provider (PPN) and they confirmed that claims for you and Mr Ducassie were received on 02 January and 04 January 2018 respectively however you did not receive the statement as they had an incorrect email address. This has since been rectified and the statement has been sent to you. Should you have further enquiries about this matter, please contact PPN on *** or email *** and the team will gladly assist. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. Regards
