Horrible experience
I was involved in a car accident and was taken to the near medical centre for a check up. After I had left I get a call from reception telling me that Bankmed didn't cover everything including the voltaren injection I was given for the neck and bank pain. At this point, I had no idea where my bank cards were and my friend had to settle the bill. I couldn't even go the physio without getting authorization from Bankmed/referral from my usual doctor. I find it appalling that in such situations I have to remember where I should be taken and what is covered and what's not.
Hi Thembinkosi, we are terribly sorry for the experience you have had over the past week and wish you a very speedy recovery. We have had a look at the recent claims that we have received and none of the claims have the items that you have indicated.
We can confirm that casualty claims are paid at 100% of the contracted rate via a Bankmed Entry Plan network general practitioner and specialists (designated service provider) and at 100% of Bankmed general practitioner Entry Plan Network rate for non-designated service providers.
Out of network cover is limited to a frequency of three out-of-network visits subject to a limit of R1 955. The limit includes all costs arising from the out-of network consultation. Combined limit as general practitioner out-of-network benefit. The facility fee is subject to specialist consultation in rooms limit
We also understand that Volteran was used and this is considered over the counter medication, which is not covered on your chosen plan type.
Regards
Bankmed Service Team
