Extremely negligent service

My dog (Lacey) started to scratch around her tail and I could see that the skin was not healthy, so we took her to Bakenkop in August.

After quickly looking at Lacey, the vet told me that the problem is her anal glands that have swollen, and it needed to be expressed. The vet did not sc**** the skin around her tail, or even take away the hair, in order to make a proper diagnosis, but instead made an assumption about the problem, as anal glands are a common issue.

I made the mistake to trust her diagnosis, and I took Lacey to Bakenkop frequently after that day, so that Lacey’s anal glands could be expressed.

However, she kept on scratching around her tail and her skin got worse.

Beginning of December, I then asked a second opinion from another veterinarian (also at Bakenkop), and she told me that the problem is the anal glands. This diagnosis was also provided after a quick look, without s****ing the skin around her tail. The vet gave a 7 day antibiotics course and an injection.

Lacey’s skin condition continued to spread. Today I went to Bakenkop to complain that we are not seeing any improvement. It was a different veterinarian that assisted today, and after mentioning what happened with the previous visits, the vet sc****d Lacey’s skin, and did a detail examination.

The vet came to the conclusion that the problem is not with the anal glands, and made a different diagnosis. I then received completely different medicine for Lacey, amongst others, a 10 day course of antibiotics.

I am very upset with Bakenkop Animal Clinic, as Lacey’s skin is now worse than what is was a few months ago, and more extensive treatment is now required. She also now needs to wear a cone around her neck to prevent her from scratching.

This could have been prevented if the vets did their jobs properly from the start, instead of making a quick diagnosis referring to the problems that they generally find, and then charging me for a consultation fee and medicine based on an incorrect diagnosis!

As a result of this negligence, Lacey now needs to take a 10 day antibiotics course, after she has already went through a 7 day antibiotic course in the same month. I expect Bakenkop to provide a full refund for all the consultation and medication.

Aside from the money issues, my dog is now suffering because of this!

I will definitely not take my animals to Bakenkop again.
