A Brand-New Car with Faults – BAIC SA Ruined the Experience
Where do I even begin? I purchased the new X55 Premium 2025 model with great excitement, only to have that joy completely destroyed by BAIC SA’s poor quality control and customer service.
On 24 February 2025, I took delivery of my new car, only to immediately discover, together with the salesperson, that the vehicle already had a dent and a chip on the back door. I was told this damage was caused by their own wash bay. Their solution? A respray. Not exactly what you expect when buying a brand-new car.
On the very same day, while driving home, I noticed the Car Play device wasn’t working. I later found out this was due to a faulty built-in USB port that required replacement. I waited weeks for the part to arrive and was reassured that the “best technician” would handle the installation, which involved removing the dashboard.
Well, the part eventually arrived and was fitted. I collected the vehicle the next day, only to find that CarPlay still didn’t work. To make matters worse, I discovered wiring and dashboard components hanging loosely, and a strange noise every time I turn or go over a speed bump. This is the kind of workmanship I received from the “best” technician—clearly unacceptable. All of this was communicated to the dealership on Thursday morning, 3 April 2025, and as of today, I am still waiting for a response.
Let me ask you this: If this is how BAIC’s “best” technician handles repairs, how can I possibly trust them with my annual service and future maintenance? This has been the worst experience of buying a car in my life, and I have completely lost all respect and trust in BAIC as a brand. They’ve taken the joy and pride of buying a new vehicle and turned it into an embarrassment. I haven’t even told friends and family about my “new car” because, frankly, it’s embarrassing. People warned me about buying a Chinese brand—and unfortunately, BAIC SA proved them right.
Let this be a warning to every potential buyer: BAIC SA is not a brand you can trust. You may be paying new car prices, but what you’re getting is far from premium.
Tell me, why should I, or any customer, accept a brand-new vehicle with dents, chips, and faulty electronics? If I bought a brand-new smartphone and it was damaged out of the box, the store would replace it, not repair it. That’s called customer service, something BAIC SA clearly lacks.
I’ve completely lost faith and respect for the brand. I paid hard-earned money for a new vehicle and got nothing but problems and disappointment in return. I am requesting the following: • Cancel my purchase contract • I will gladly go to an alternative brand and the better option in hindsight.
This post will also be shared on Facebook so that the public can be made aware of what kind of service and quality they can expect when dealing with BAIC SA.
BAIC SA, you have not only failed me—you have destroyed the joy and excitement of owning a new car. I sincerely hope others read this before making the same mistake.

- Damaged paintwork caused by the dealership – still not fixed.
- No navigation system – seven months of excuses due to their “technical issues.”
- Wipers switch on randomly in clear weather – laughable if it weren’t so dangerous.
- Aircon fan faulty – BAIC SA KNOWS this was a widespread issue, yet they refuse to replace the part.
- Aircon temperature inconsistent & “auto function” forcing outside air in – a design so stupid even a child could have done better.
- Internal system audio failure – alarms, hazards, and navigation sounds just vanish while driving. Imagine being in danger with NO audible alerts. This is not just poor service, it’s a serious safety hazard.
BAIC SA’s management should be ashamed to even call themselves professionals. They have no backbone, no accountability, and no respect for their customers.
PUBLIC WARNING:
To anyone considering buying a BAIC vehicle – DON’T DO IT.
Save yourself the money, frustration, and humiliation of dealing with the most *********** and dishonest management team in the South African automotive industry. I am utterly disgusted. BAIC SA is a disgrace, and their treatment of customers is unacceptable.
