Winelands beauty
We are regular visitors to this amazing farm in the Franschhoek valley with its incredible orchards and vineyards and vegetable gardens and restaurants and produce stores and flower gardens and hotel and many other features. Entry costs a paltry R20 which goes to the local community. We usually buy a cup of coffee and a pastry and go and sit on a bench in one of the many gardens and read or just inhale the beauty of the place. I understand that the farm belongs to the Koos Bekker family. Like the Ruperts and the Ferreiras and the Graffs ,the Backs and the Wiese family and the many others who own farms in the Stellenbosch, Franschhoek , Somerset West and Paarl areas ,this family shares it's wherewithal with the rest of us. Of course they are all business people running commercial enterprises but they take their guardianship of the land and their historic properties very seriously . I am eternally grateful to those of them who so generously share these magnificent places.
