Touching my pregnant belly

I went to Baby City Alberton Lifestyle Centre, on today, Sunday 21 April 2024. I arrived there at 13h35 to be greeted by one of the employees there at the door saying I’m late. I am heavily pregnant, she then touches my tummy on the side as I enter.

I immediately tell her I’m not late, the shop closes at 14h00 and she mustn’t touch me. She responds dismissively with an “okay”.

I get the pampers pants I came for, savlon and baby bath soaps and head to the till. I’m assisted at the till by a friendly go-to person when at this Baby City sis Thuli and pay for my items. The lady who was at the door id now in the next till. I stop as she had also finished helping someone pay for their items, and I ask her why and what made her think it’s okay to touch my belly. Is it because I’m a fellow “black sister “ that I must just understand this and she isn’t remorseful when I told her to not touch me? I told her it’s not okay to be touching peoples bodies, pregnant or not.

Does Baby City not have a harassment policy or training that their employees do??

Totally ruined my day.

My till slip time is 01:42. I get it’s Sunday and people want to go home to their families, and coming in last minute at 1:35pm.
