Nappies exchange

I bought Nappies last year at Mama Magic and I was told that I can always exchange them at any Baby city store. I tried to exchange them due to size being small they refuse to exchange them because they were not in the box and last year i was told I can still exchange them as long as they still in the package. Tried to exchange them at baby city certurion. Why was I gaven false information by your staff
