BabyCity wont tell you how things work because they have the SABS Regulations to point you to-this is how they treat new moms.

I’m a first time mom and I was sold a baby car sit without any explanation or demonstration that it needed a base. I was told if my car has isofix everything should be fine. I only discovered this when reading the manual to install the car seat that a base costing close to R3000 is needed. I returned to the store to exchange the car seat for a reasonable car seat. Firstly I was told they can’t exchange without its box. Then the rules changed and I was referred to the SABS regulation which I was told I should have know that no exchanges are accepted. No one bothered to explain this to me before the purchase. Now I am expected to spend another R3000 for a base for a car seat(car seat is R3000 itself) I will use for 12 months or less. I called their head office in Durban and a Roshnee told me I should have done my homework about the SABS regulations and hung up the phone on me. I spent R22000 in total at this store and this is the condescending treatment I get. Baby City is refusing to take any responsibility of their negligence in this process because I didn’t do my homework on SABS regulations. So they won’t do their part because they have the SABS Regulation to point you to. My baby is due any day now and I’m stuck without a usable car seat unless I cough out another R3000 for a base.
