Brad Magnussen aka Brad The Electrician was recommended to us by the resident's association where we live. In February 20022 we had him come and do some plug socket and light socket replacements. Basic electrical stuff and he performed a competent job. He was paid in cash. My partner asked him if he could do an Electrical Compliance for the house and he assured us that he could and was able to issue an Electrical Compliance Certificate. He quoted around R7000.00 for the C.O.C and we paid a deposit of about R4000.00 before the job was due to start. The quotation, as well as the cash receipt had no Official Letter Head or Registration no. on it. On the 24th April 2022, Brad was supposed to start work at our home. He never turned up. When we phoned to find out where he was , he said it was a public holiday and he had just woken up. We re-scheduled for the 27th April 2022. He was supposed to start at 8:30am. He never phones but leaves voice messages on the wattssapp. He left a message to say that his apprentice has not turned up and he will have to come another day. He eventually managed to come on two days to do some work. He was always late and always had some excuse. From the 6th May to the 17th May he disappeared. Eventually on the 17th May 2022 , we terminated his work with us. We had to obtain the services of another outfit and it cost us an additional R9000.00. Please be warned about this man, as not only is he tardy, and tells lies, but certain of the work he did was not C.O.C compliant and had to be re-done. He is supposedly "registered" with the Department of Labour. However, the address he has given them is ****, as another electrician is at the address, and they have never heard of him.
