Inadequate patient care

Have been a patient at B Braun Renal Unit since April 2013. Towards the end of 2013, my blood pressure began to increase and attempts were made to contact Dr Jacobs the Nephrologist to determine what could be done, but he was unavailable to assist.<br> The high blood pressure readings continued unabated, with no care taken by the staff at the Renal Unit, until in June 2014, the Renal Unit Manager mentioned that my PTH count was 2000+ and by the way it was 3000+ in January 2014 & advised that the count should be around 500 !<br> Immediately changed to a new Nephrologist, Dr Hattingh, who after a second consultation insisted that the parathyroid be removed, which took place on 5 September 2014<br> Post parathyroid operation, the blood pressure readings remain high, but only on the days when being dialysed. Eventually at the beginning of February 2015, Sister Stephanie arrived at the Renal Clinic & became concerned at the high blood pressure readings. She immediately undertook to investigate & found that the BBRuan Dialysis machines were set too high in terms of calcium levels. One machine has since been readjusted and blood pressures have significantly improved.
