A & Z Auto will rob you and convince you its your fault

I am fatigued by this experience beyond explanation. I suffered some mechanical issues with my vehicle, being a 2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.4i trendline hatch, and took it to A & Z auto, located 2 doors away from the Maitland Police Station and in sight of the Maitland Post Office. The company is owned by Asif Khan. He is assisted, or has been by a few different hands in the workshop, Dennis and Rasta(distinguishing feature being his 11 digits). At the time I brought my vehicle, Asif was stuck in Pakistan due to the COVID Flight restrictions, but the workshop was still open and managed by Mohamed. I brought the car in to have it examined but with the intention of having the Head done over. I was assured of good quality work, which I trusted, having had the car there before for breaks, gear linkages, etc. I receive a call in the following week to say that I may as well replace the Water and Oil pumps while i am at it, seeing as they will be busy in that region of the engine. I reluctantly consented as I was over budget already. When I received the car more than a week later, I drove it away, slowly, back to work. en route the car overheated. I let it stand and made plans to get it back to the workshop. from bellville, I made it back to goodwood, where the car stalled, having overheated to the point of the engine seizing. I had to get towed to the workshop, adding to my expenses. they examined the car again and told me that I had to rather overhaul the engine as the problem lay there and not in the work that they did. This set me back to the point that I had to borrow money to get the car finished. I paid and collected the car, it was not in a good condition despite their assurance. It cost me over R15k in workshop costs and an extra R2500 in additional towing, vehicle rental and related expenses. I was put into a very difficult position and then decided to purchase another car as I needed a reliable vehicle. I am posting this experience to warn anyone and everyone from having any work done to your vehicle there as it will more than likely be a hack job done by amateurs and posers. Play it safe, take your car to a reputable workshop, pay a few rands more and get a guarantee. MORE STRICTER REGULATION OF THIS INDUSTRY IS URGENTLY NEEDED!!!
