Nedbank’s Avo Auto is a money making middleman **** designed to **** people out of their hard earned money. I wanted to sell by my BMW which was financed by Nedbank MFC. I then got the best offer from a BMW delearship. After accepting the offer I called MFC to inform them of the offer. MFC insisted I go through AVO AUTO and their network of dealerships. The offers offered by their dealerships were significantly less then the offer I received from BMW. On top of that they still wanted to charge a 2% facilitation fee deductible from the offer amount I received from BMW yet they are a part of the MFC. This is very ****ish tendencies by a bank which I thought was credible.

I am an MFC vehicle finance client who was offered the Avo Auto Care credit facility to cover brake repairs on my Renault Clio. What I discovered should concern every MFC client using this service. Avo Auto Care uses Supa Quick to do the actual work. This is publicly confirmed in their own press material. What they do not tell you is that they mark up the Supa Quick price significantly before billing your credit facility. In my case: ∙ Supa Quick quote for the job: R4,250.01 (incl. VAT) ∙ Avo Auto Care quote for the exact same job: R5,922.50 (incl. VAT) ∙ Difference: R1,672.49, which is a 39% markup The labour rate alone went from R400 per hour at Supa Quick to R750 per hour through Avo, an 88% increase for the same hands doing the same work. When I challenged this, Avo’s response was simply that “a markup has been app**** due to the service being provided on credit.” No percentage was disclosed. No rand value was itemised. Nothing in their marketing or my facility agreement warned me this markup existed. This is particularly problematic because MFC clients are already paying interest on the credit facility. The markup means you pay inflated prices AND interest on those inflated prices. Avo Auto Care’s own executive publicly promised the service would not compromise clients’ financial wellbeing. A hidden 39% markup does exactly that. My advice to any MFC client: before accepting an Avo Auto Care quote, get a direct quote from the Supa Quick branch they intend to use. The difference may shock you. If you can pay directly, do so. The credit facility convenience is not worth a nearly R1,700 premium plus compounding interest. I have escalated this to Avo and MFC in writing and have put them on notice of a National Credit Regulator referral if not resolved. I am sharing this so other consumers are not caught off guard the way I was

****mer of note. I was told I have credit in my MFC account, I was harassed to use it as a credit only to realize that, that is a debt added on my installment. Nobody discussed how the repayment will be structured since it was a ****. I am alerting everyone on social media never yo fall for the ****.
