Poor service

I am writing to report a complaint against AvisBuget Car Rental regarding a rental vehicle that I had rented by my insurance from their Mbombela branch on the 25th of March 2023.

Upon receiving the rental vehicle, I immediately noticed a problem in the boot and I brought it to the attention of the rental agent that both boot top(next to rear window) and bottom covers (covers the spare wheel) were bent/curved. The rental agent told me that those are minor problems and doesn't count as a damages. The customers put cooler boxes with ices in the boot and it fell while driving.

Despite the damages mentioned on the rental vehicle, I was charged for the damage fee associated with the top boot cover for rental car, which I believe is unfair and unjust. I have contacted the AvisBudget Car Rental and requested that they withdraw any charges associated with the boot top cover bent/curved damage to the rental vehicle, however I have not yet to receive a response.

Furthermore, I believe that Avis has violated my rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act of 2008 and the Rental Housing Act of 1999. The company did not provide me with a rental vehicle that was in good condition, despite me bringing the bent/curved covers to the attention of their staff member. AvisBudget Car Rental also ignored my concerns and charged me for the damage fee despite the fact that the damage was not my fault and was there when I took the vehicle.

I am not liable for any boot top cover damage to the rental vehicle and therefore request that the damage fee be withdrawn immediately. Additionally, I request that AvisBudget Car Rental refund my deposit for the rental vehicle as soon as possible.
