Never rent with Avis

I received a car from Avis through Discovery as part of my insurance policy. When I went to collect the car I was told I needed to pay a deposit on the vehicle and that it would be paid back to me when I returned the vehicle. I returned the vehicle on a Friday and was told the deposit would be in my account by Wednesday the following week. It has been over two weeks and I am still waiting for my deposit. At this point, it feels like Avis has ****** my money. Unfortunately repairs on my car were not finished in time and my insurance rental agreement ended and I was forced to hire a new car out of my pocket. Upon returning that car I was told that R3200 would be coming off the deposit I had paid because I had "opted" for insurance. I was under the impression that any insurance I took on the vehicle would be included in the price I paid upfront, it was never made clear to me that I'd have the amount taken off my deposit. I will never be renting with Avis again. Steer clear, these people are ******.
