AVIS *****.

A white Polo registration number KZ76VXGP was allocated to me on Saturday 18/11/2023 at 11h20 at AVIS Oliver Tambo offices. On checking the vehicle at the airport, I pointed out to the AVIS representative that the spare wheel was fitted to the vehicle (identified by the yellow sticker on the rim) and that the normal wheel in the boot was flat. I, myself, my wife, and the AVIS representative, went back to the Avis counter where the spare wheel issue was pointed out and I was subsequently allocated a different vehicle; a grey Polo registration number LF18GLGP. At the time of taking receipt of the vehicle, it had 13 484 km on the clock, of which a picture was taken. On Sunday 19/11/2023 at 8h57 (after less than 24hours rental) the vehicle was returned with 13 634 km on the clock, of which again, a photo was taken. In total the car had been driven for 150 km upon return to their premises. The invoice received stated that the vehicle was returned only on Monday 20/11/2023 at 9H56, which is 25 hours later than the true return date and return time. The KM In is stated as 13 689 on the invoice, which is inflated by 55 km to 205 km. The vehicle was returned without filling it up. The amount of fuel used is given as 36.2 liters on the invoice. This means the consumption of this vehicle was a staggering 36.2 liters/ 150km = 23.1 liters per 100 km. My own Polo, driven over 14 900 km, averages a consumption of 6.1 liter/100km.

My credit card was debited with more than R1 500, while AVIS take their time to investigate and correct their *****ulent activity. The above all smells of *****. This asks for a serious investigation, as the above *****ulent charges are most likely not an exception.

Above was all communicated to AVIS Customer Care Center on 26 November 2023. I was promised feedback within 3 days. Nine days later, still no refund.
