UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT
I write this letter as a plea to everyone who is about to purchase a vehicle from AVIS Car Sales Durban Branch on 190 KE Masinga Rd, Stamford Hill, Durban, 4001.
I was assisted by a sales consultant by the name of Riaaz, the F&I consultant was Clayton. I had seen a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Trend A/T on their site, I went in to test drive the car and requested an OTP in order to attain finance.
Before leaving their offices I had spoken with the F&I consultant about extended service for the vehicle and he advised that he would enquire about that and give me a call about it later on that day.
He managed to call me and advised that the fee for the extended service plan of 120 000km/6yrs which ever comes 1st was R 10,174.32 as quoted on my invoice provided to me.
He then mentioned a scratch and dent policy which I EXPLICITLY DECLINED over the phone and I advised him that I ONLY NEEDED AND WANTED the extended warranty.
I was EXTREMELY SHOCKED after having signed the documents given to my by the sales consultant Riaaz to notice an invoice which was not the one provided to me initially. This invoice quoted that the extended service plan was R8,847.23 and that there was a scratch and dent policy which amounted to R3,652.17 excl VAT which I had told him I did not need neither did I want it.
Further to this, I had the full quote of the service and delivery amount on the quote provided to me of R4,200.00 which would have included licensing as well as the license plates and I had believed that I would have picked the vehicle up with a FULL PETROL TAN****
To my dismay the licensing and the license plates were put on HOWEVER MY FUEL WAS NOT EVEN FILLED HALF WAY!!!! Why was I charged a delivery fee if I wasn't going to receive the car with the full tank? It would have been cheaper than the R4,200.00 noted on the invoice to get the licensing done on my side and I would have also been able to fill up the tank.
Never have I ever experienced such from a dealership, what exacerbates the matter was the fact that I was purchasing the vehicle for my fiancé and she too, knowing very little about cars knew that the vehicle is meant to have a full tank and she was a bit puzzled as to why this wasn't the case.
I honestly feel like I was conned with this deal and I would like a representative from the AVIS Car Sales national department to have a listen to the recorded line which the F&I specialist had a conversation with me and explain how on earth they sold a client something that was EXPLICILTY declined further to this I would like to know what type of people receive the full tank when purchasing a car from one of their dealerships?
